Santorum Has Gay Friends

Santorum recently told Don Lemon that he's not a homophobe and he loves his gay friends:

He now joins Joe the Plumber, Sarah Palin, Maggie Gallagher, and all the others with mysterious and unnamed "gay friends."  Of course, those "differences of opinion" that he claims his "gay friends" "respect" including comparing our loving relationships to sex with children and sex with dogs.  Here are some other "differences of opinion" that Santorum's "gay friends" "respect:"

"Whether it's polygamy, whether it's adultery, whether it's sodomy, all of those things, are antithetical to a healthy, stable, traditional family."
"If the Supreme Court says that you have the right to consensual sex within your home, then you have the right to bigamy, you have the right to polygamy, you have the right to incest, you have the right to adultery. You have the right to anything."

"I have no problem with homosexuality. I have a problem with homosexual acts. As I would with acts of other, what I would consider to be, acts outside of traditional heterosexual relationships. And that includes a variety of different acts, not just homosexual. I have nothing, absolutely nothing against anyone who’s homosexual. If that’s their orientation, then I accept that. And I have no problem with someone who has other orientations. The question is, do you act upon those orientations? So it’s not the person, it’s the person’s actions. And you have to separate the person from their actions.”  (Apparently his "gay friends" are celebate).

In this case, what we’re talking about, basically, is priests who were having sexual relations with post-pubescent men. We’re not talking about priests with 3-year-olds, or 5-year-olds. We’re talking about a basic homosexual relationship.” (Blaming the Catholic church's scandal on gays and calling sex with underage teenagers "a basic homosexual relationship.")

Ugly Quote of the Day II

"I just think my children and your children would be much better off and much more successful getting married and raising a family, and I don't want them brainwashed into thinking that homosexuality is an equally valid and successful option--it isn't. There is nothing to be proud of in being a dysfunctional homosexual. That is not how God created us."

--Carl Paladino, the crude moron who will be governor of New York unless every thinking person in the Empire State gets out and votes.  Do you think he's aware of the Bronx gay torture case?  Do you think he gives a shit?

GA GOP Candidate for Gov. Opposes Gay Adoption, Marriage, Civil Unions. Can't Explain Why

Watch former Georgia Secretary of State and gubernatorial candidate Karen Handel react badly to questions about gay issues.  It gets particularly interesting when she's asked why she believes marriage should be between one man and one woman.  She's apparently never had to question her dogmatic beliefs and clearly has no idea what to say.  Keep watching as she awkwardly avoids a question about single parents as a "nuance."  At the end, she is absolutely unable to answer why she doesn't believe gays should adopt.

"Because I don't."  I picture Lucy Van Pelt folding her arms in a huff.

Maybe her "beliefs" are so paper-thin because she used to be somewhat moderate on gay issues.  Now that she wants to be governor, she's become a hard liner.

Inequality in Hawaii

GOP Governor Linda Lingle of Hawaii has vetoed a civil unions bill passed by the state legislature.  The twice-divorced Lingle waited until the last day to protect the sanctity of marriage.  She chose to pander to extremist elements in her party instead of respect the civil rights of Hawaiian citizens.  In 1993, the Hawaii Supreme Court ruled that dening the right to marriage to Hawaiians violated equal protection.  Gov. Lingle actually invited the judge who wrote that decision,  retired Justice Steven Levinson, to witness her defiance of the rule of law.  Here she is taking the cowardly bullshit position that civil rights should be decided by the voters:

The ACLU plans to sue based on the 1993 state Supreme Court decision.

Was "Chicago-Style Shakedown" a BP/GOP Idea?

We've all heard Rep. Joe Barton apologize to BP for the escrow fund announced by President Obama, which Barton called a "tragedy of the first order."  Newt Gingrich, Michelle Bachman and many others have condemned this as a "Chicago-style shakedown" of poor, oppressed BP.  Yet, Dave Weigel of The Washington Post has reported that the $20 Billion fund was BP's idea, urged on by Republican Rep. Cao of Louisiana over a month ago.  As conservative David Frum said:

"This story is another example of the harm done by allowing talk radio & Fox – rather than elected officials and aspiring candidates – to define the GOP. Anybody heard any objection to the escrow fund from Mitt Romney? Has Mitch Daniels termed it a “shakedown”? Bobby Jindal seems cool with the idea, ditto Mitch McConnell. But these real leaders are crowded out by people trying to bump ratings a point or two by inciting another prime time hour’s worth of anti-Obama indignation."

This reminds me of the death panels.  A thougful, end of life counseling provision inserted into the health care bill by conservative Republican Senator Isakson of Georgia morphed into Obama wants to kill grandma.

If President Obama appointed Jesus Christ to the Supreme Court, Newt Gingrich would go on Fox News to denounce Christ's ties to prostitution.

Arizona Governor Signs Draconian Anti-Immigrant Bill

Arizona Governor Brewer has signed an immigration bill that requires authorities to question and demand proof of status from anyone they suspect of being undocumented.

"The legislation, sent to the Republican governor by the GOP-led Legislature, makes it a crime under state law to be in the country illegally. It also requires local police officers to question people about their immigration status if there is reason to suspect they are illegal immigrants; allows lawsuits against government agencies that hinder enforcement of immigration laws; and makes it illegal to hire illegal immigrants for day labor or knowingly transport them."

This is Constitutionally questionable at best and a bald political pandering at worst.  In addition to basic questions of fairness, the State of Arizona just bought themselves a shitload of litigation.   Who pays for litigation?  Taxpayers, that's who.

Palin: We're All Teabaggers!

If you can stand it, here's the quitter blaming right-wing violence on the "lamestream media."

Who knew the Ticked Off Trannies had a fashion line?
