A diplomat from Quatar was dumb enough to try to smoke a cigarette in the lavatory of a United flight from Washington to Denver yesterday. Air Marshals met him when he came out of the bathroom and sat with him for the remainder of the flight. NORAD was alerted and jets were scrambled. This turned out not to be another shoe bomber but just one very stupid nicotine freak. He was described as a diplomat with full immunity who has been in this country for years. If so, he must speak excellent English. What the fuck did he think the flight attendant meant when she said not to tamper with the smoke detector in the lavatory? I suppose he thinks his immunity extends to smoking whenever the hell he wants to.
