The Argentine Senate passed a marriage equality bill last night adding Argentina to the community of nations that respects all of its citizens. The bill passed after 14 hours of debate. Argentine President Cristina Fernandez is a strong supporter of marriage equality and is expected to sign the bill. Sen. Norma Morandini, a member of the president's party, put it well when she said "what defines us is our humanity, and what runs against humanity is intolerance."
Towleroad posted a clip capturing the moment when gay Argentines realized they would be full citizens of their country:
From Joe.My.God comes this map of Marriage equality around the world. The quickly spreading dark blue represents full marriage rights. The lighter shades represent lesser forms of legal recognition of our humanity.
