Every picture I see of Miss Graham reminds me of my 7th grade yearbook picture; a picture that will never see the light of day.

Pentagon Study Finds Soldiers Don't Care About DA/DT Repeal
I could have told them this. The massive Pentagon study of the impact of Don't Ask/Don't Tell on soldiers and their families is in and the overwhelming attitude of military members to openly gay servicemembers is a big whatever, dude. Basically, Barry Goldwater had it right decades ago when he said soldiers don't care if a colleague is straight as long as he can shoot straight. The commander of the U.S. Army Europe said concerns about DA/DT repeal were “exaggerated and not consistent with the reported experiences of many service members.” Defense Secretary Gates said that repeal “would not be the wrenching, traumatic change that many have feared and predicted.” According to the New York Times:
"The report also found that a majority — 69 percent — believed they had already worked with a gay man or woman, and of those the vast majority — 92 percent — reported that the unit’s ability to work together was very good, good or 'neither good nor poor.'”
Of course, John McCain reiterated his opposition to DA/DT repeal today. Keep in mind that his excuses for opposition are ever-shifting along with his integrity. His gal pal Lindsey Lohan Graham said yesterday the she was opposed to repeal despite the fact that it's glaringly obvious that Graham as queer as a 3-dollar bill. What a farce.

Lindsay "Ain't Gay"
SC GOP Senator Lindsay Graham has denied being gay...again. From a NY Times profile on Miss Lohan Senator Graham:
"For his sins, Glenn Beck termed the senator Obama Lite, while Rush Limbaugh labeled him Lindsey Grahamnesty. Less tame are the blogosphere monikers, like 'Miss Lindsey,' that play off of Graham’s never-married status. During a South Carolina Tea Party rally this spring, one speaker created an uproar by postulating that Graham supported a guest-worker program out of fear that the Democrats might otherwise expose his homosexuality. (Graham smirked when I brought this up. 'Like maybe I’m having a clandestine affair with Ricky Martin,' he said. 'I know it’s really gonna upset a lot of gay men — I’m sure hundreds of ’em are gonna be jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge — but I ain’t available. I ain’t gay. Sorry.')"
First of all, the gay rumors do not "play off of Graham’s never-married status." They play off what is plainly obvious to all sentient humans.
Second, a "clandestine affair with Ricky Martin?" At least he projects in good taste.

House Votes to Repeal Don't Ask/Don't Tell
The US House of Representatives voted tonight to repeal the military gay ban, euphemistically known as Don't Ask/Don't Tell, conditioned on the DOD study due in December and certification from the President. It's not a done deal, but it's a significant step. The Senate Armed Services Committee also advanced the bill with all Democrats except Jim Webb from Virginia voting in favor. Almost all Republicans, including Lindsey Lohan Graham of South Carolina, voted no. Susan Collins of Maine was the sole GOP yes vote. The Senate vote should come shortly. John McCain, who is desparetely trying to court the teabaggers who will never trust him, has vowed to filibuster. In 2008 he said that if the military leadership supported repeal, he would bow to their judgement. The did and he did not keep his word.

Teabaggers Call Out Graham for Being Gay
South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham has never been popular with the Teabaggers because he has occasionally made efforts to work with Democrats to actually (gasp) pass legislation. For example, he voted for the Wise Latina's nomination to move out of committee which I suppose was some sort of Teabagger treason. Now his rumored homosexuality has been openly discussed at a Teabagger rally in Greenville. "Barney Frank is more honest and brave than you. Because at least we know about Barney Frank and nobody's gonna hold it over his head." I'm with him on this point and completely agree. But he didn't shut up when he was ahead.
The blowhard went on to question why Graham is trying to "sell out his country" and said "I need to know if your being gay is why." Because gay = traitor? Gayness alone makes someone want to sell out his country? Is this Teabagger logic? This reminds me of the game show contestant who said Ellen doesn't like her country. I don't know who this "uncredited speaker" is, but I am one gay American and South Carolinian who would like to compare my 12 years of honorable service in the United States Army to whatever this fucker has done for his country.
