I'm going to start doing a post or two a week about celebrity tattoos. For some unknown reason the world seems to be overly obsessed with celebrities and people want to know everything about them and their tattoos are no different. Many people are curious to know what some of their favorite celebrities have tattoos of and what some of them might mean.

Well I thought I would start with Penelope Cruz. I know she is a kind of random celebrity but I read this interview with her talking about her tattoo. Or should I say the lack of talking about her tattoo. Penelope seems to be very guarded about her tattoo and will not reveal the meaning or significance behind it. Which in all honesty she has every right to feel that way. But it is a little odd because most people like to share the story behind their tats. But if she wants to keep hers private than all power to her.

Here is how the interview went,

Is it true that you have 883 tattooed on your ankle?
It is true, but I never say why.

Is it an area code?
No, and it's not a Harley-Davidson. It's not the different things that have been said.

So everyone can have a theory?
I don't think anyone cares. It's my own tattoo.

And it's your own ankle.
Uh-huh.

I guess we will never know the meaning behind the 883 on ther ankle. But until then I guess we all will just have to keep guessing or trying to come up with what it might mean. But it doesn't seem like Penelope is going to confirm it even if we do guess the right thing.

It's Not So Complicated

The hubby and I caught up on our movie watching over the weekend.  We saw Nine, A Single Man, and It's Complicated.  We enjoyed all three.

Nine was pretty darn fabulous.  Who knew Judi Dench could sing and dance?  I loved seeing Sophia Loren on screen, even if they didn't give her much to do.  Nicole Kidman was incredibly beautiful.  Penelope Cruz seemed to be having fun, Marion Cotillard was pitch-perfect, Fergie practically stopped the show, and I even liked Kate Hudson.  I thought it was a beautiful merging of stage to screen.  If you're a show-tune queen like me, go see it.
A Single Man was overwrought at times (the Psycho sign?  We get it, he's stressed), but Colin Firth's performance ripped my heart out.  It's wonderful to see a movie that honors a gay relationship and treats it with respect.  If you're in a shallow mood, go see it for Julianne Moore's fabulous 1962 hair, make-up and gown.  With a cape! Tom Ford is brilliant. 

It's Complicated was typical Nancy Myers fare.  A woman of a certain age with a stunning house, fascinating career, enviable girlfriends, and glowing skin is strangely unfulfilled.  During a white wine fueled gabfest with Mary Kay Place and Rita Wilson, she reveals that she hasn't gotten laid in years and oh my God have you tried the bruschetta?  Suddenly, she's being pursued by two terribly attractive men, one who forsakes a young babe to bang our old girl repeatedly and another who woos her sweetly.  Who will she choose? 

My disbelief ceased to be suspended during a scene with Meryl picking flawless tomatoes from her breathtaking vegetable garden.  We're supposed to believe that this single empty-nester with no apparent domestic help juggles a booming career, a huge home that she is expanding, and affairs with two men simultaneously all while maintaining the most amazing vegetable garden since Kathy Griffin visited Suzanne Somers?  Maybe I think about these things too much.  Watch it on DVD on some rainy afternoon when you're depressed and need a light pick-me-up.

I see a lot of movies.  Maybe I should write about them more often.  What do you think?

Sexy Actress Model Penelope Cruz Endorse Beauty Product

L'Oréal has signed a global advertising deal with the Girls Aloud singer and X Factor judge Cheryl Cole the sexy model that will initially see her front the launch of a range of beauty products targeting UK women.


Cole, who has been signed on an initial one-year deal, is the first British woman to be signed by L'Oreal Paris since a young sexy model Kate Moss in 1998.

"I have always loved the brand and have always wanted to say the iconic phrase 'because you're worth it' so to be given that opportunity is absolutely amazing," said Cole. "Every woman has the right to feel beautiful and L'Oréal Paris the beauty product giant makes that aspiration achievable".

Cole will appear in a major TV ad campaign in October following the launch of a new range, Elvive Full Restore 5, in the UK next month. It is the first time that L'Oréal Paris has launhced a standalone product range specifically for the UK market.

L'Oréal's stable of "faces" is primarily made up of US stars – such as Eva Longoria Penelope Cruz Jennifer Aniston and Beyoncé – although it has also signed the Indian actor Freida Pinto of Slumdog Millionaire fame.

"The company is very international and we have a lot of US signings and we felt we were missing a UK celebrity," said Gayle Tait, general manager of beauty product company L'Oréal Paris. "We researched a number of options but Cheryl just tested so well with the UK public. She is considered the nation's sweetheart and is held on great affection by the British public. We sign on personality as much as anything."

Tait said that signing an initial one-year deal with Cole was standard practice but the L'Oréal had a practice of developing long-term relationships with its stars.

"We don't tend to [end out] signing people for a year. We look for long-term commitments to develop," she said.

She’s part of the UK’s biggest girl band as well as our most popular television show. And now she knows without a doubt that she’s hit the big time with the announcement she is to join the ranks of Penelope Cruz Beyonce and Eva Longoria .

Prices start from £3.29 for shampoo and conditioner and Cheryl will make her appearance in the ad campaign nationwide from early October.
