My dear friend (and LC reader) Ray and his friend Carlos were at The Stonewall Inn last night as the New York Senate passed marriage equality. Here are his pictures and his beautifully written report. You might want to grab a tissue before you read it:
"I got a call from my friend Carlos to come down to the village and have dinner with him last evening and as decided last minute to do so. After having a nice dinner and discussion about the impending state senate passage of the marriage equality act, we of course were anxious to know as it was about to happen any moment.
After dinner we walked over to Sheridan Square and Christopher Street and low and behold as we walked over at 10:31 my phone flashed with the NY Times news alert that the state senate had passed the measure and it was now going to be law!! The streets erupted and we made our way to the Stonewall Inn where it all began some 42 years ago, the beginning of the gay rights movement and the struggle for equality, Christopher Street had been cordoned off and the thousands were flocking and cheering and celebrating what it truly an hard fought and historic moment.
As we made our way through the crowd I had such emotions. Seeing all the different types...young, old, black, white, latino, asian, indian, phillipino, tall, thin, heavy....gosh what diversity our community has and there in lies our strength!! I felt such pride in our coming together to celebrate this moment and I too had some emotion (and a few tears) as I remembered all those friends who were NOT here to celebrate in this moment....Willy, Stan, Gray, David, Reid, Lloyd, Thomas, Web, Kevin....too many and yet I said, "you are here, in my heart and in my memory and I share this moment with you! You may be gone but not forgotten!"
A very incredible moment and crowd and energy....I'm so GLAD I got a chance to witness, to be alive and to experience a part of this!! (thank you! Carlos!!)"

Man Gay Bashed at the Stonewall Inn
Benjamin Carver (pictured) and his boyfriend had just arrived in New York from Washington for a fun weekend when he was attacked and beaten for being gay...in a gay bar! Not just any gay bar, but the Stonewall Inn!
Carver went to the Stonewall to meet some friends. He went to the men's room and two punks, Matthew Francis and Christopher Orlando of Staten Island, were waiting for him. One of them asked "are you gay?" and Carver said "where are you, buddy?" The reply was "don't pee next to me, faggot." The shits asked for money and Carver wouldn't give it to him. One of them cold-cocked him, the other tackled him and pinned his arms back while the first slugged him about a dozen times. Carver managed to grab a beer bottle in the sink and swung it at them. They recoiled and Carver was able to escape. He grabbed a pool cue and swung it at his attackers. The two punk-ass cowards ran, but bar staff ran after them. Carver said:
"It should be noted that the staff of the Stonewall are some bad ass, take no shit hombres," he wrote. "My kind of queers. I would very much like to buy them a drink."
The two attackers were caught and arrested.
Isn't it interesting that these two pieces of shit who hate faggots so much were hanging out in a gay bar men's room. I guess they thought sissys would make easy targets. Guess again, assholes.

NY Times is the New HX?
The Sunday New York Times had a splashy article on the Skin Tight Party at the Stonewall Inn which features guys dressed as superheros. I'm not surprised that the gays have discovered yet another excuse to wear tight clothes to bars, but I was a bit pleasantly surprised to see the newspaper of record dive so deeply into the gay bar scene. Check out the whole article, complete with a gallery of sexy men in spandex here. I was looking for shots of Lazy Circles readers Doug, Ray and Junior in their comic book costumes, but I guess they avoided the camera. Wait a minute, who are these three masked men?
