Obama Condemns Gay Genocide at National Prayer Breakfast

Both Secretary Clinton and President Obama spoke at the Family-sponsored National Prayer Breakfast and spoke out about the gay genocide bill in Uganda.  The National Prayer Breakfast is not, as many people assume, some ecumenical love-fest.  It's sponsored by the fundamentalist Family, the very group who's members sponsored the hideous bill in Uganda.   I believe Obama and Clinton had no business being there, but I'm glad they confronted the ugliness. 

Scott Lively's "Nuclear Bomb"

Scott Lively  is the "Christian" missionary who was one of three Americans participating in the March 2008 anti-gay conference in Uganda that preceded the gay genocide bill.  He claims to oppose the law, yet hear his words spoken in Uganda.  He has bragged that his words constituted a "nuclear bomb."  This clip is beyond anything you ca imagine.  He teaches that we are all serial killers who were responsible for the Rwandan massacre.  He says the Rwandan murderers were macho and gays are macho therefore gays were "probably" responsible.  Seriously, that's the depth of his analysis.  He presents himself as the world's foremost expert on homosexuality.  Judge for yourself, if you have the stomach for it.  



Is is any wonder that Ugandan politicians were inspired to kill gays?  Lively knew exactly what he was doing and he got the result he wanted.  Read much more at Box Turtle Bulletin.

New York Times on Uganda Gay Genocide

The New York Times continued it's sudden discovery of the Uganda gay genocide bill with an excellent editorial in today's edition.  An excerpt: 

"Now the three Americans are saying they had no intention of provoking the anger that, just one month later, led to the introduction of the Anti-Homosexuality Bill of 2009. You can’t preach hate and not accept responsibility for the way that hate is manifested."

"They Set a Fire They Can't Quench"

The New York Times has finally published an article about Uganda's proposed gay genocide law.  Today's article profiles four American religious fanatics (my term) who's 3-day conference in Uganda on the "hidden and dark gay agenda" sparked the murderous law.  The four Americans are Scott Lively who has written books on preventing children from becoming homosexual, Caleb Lee Brundidge, who calls himself "ex-gay," and Don Schmierer, a board member of Exodus International.  Naturally, the all claim to feel really, really bad and believe they were tricked by the Ugandans.  Read the article and decide for yourself. 

Uganda Drops Death to Gays

The Ugandan parliament has dropped the death penalty and life imprisonment for gays in their proposed bill to further criminalize homosexuality. Good news, right? At least people won't be executed (officially) for being who God made them. The bill is still Draconian, though. The newly revised bill favors a "more refined set of punishments" including stiff jail sentences and forced Cohen-style snake oil.

"More refined set of punishments" could have come out of the mouth of Mengele. As Joe.My.God said, we must continue to expose the American so-called religious leaders and politicians who caused this monstrosity in the first place.

The Purpose Driven Genocide

You have probably heard about the pending law in Uganda that would mandate the death penalty for "aggravated homosexuality." This include any mixing of alcohol and gay sex. In other words, buy a guy a drink in a bar and take him home, and you've committed a capitol offense. Seriously. The law also includes life imprisonment for "promoting homosexuality," speaking out in favor of gay rights, or just having gay sex once. There are also jail terms for those who fail to turn in a gay person, like a mother or father.

Guess who's involved in this up to his eyeballs? None other than Pastor Rick Warren. You know Rick, he's the guy who lied that he wasn't involved in the Prop 8 fight when he actually fought hard to strip gay Californians of rights he enjoys. He's the guy who said he's not homophobic because he loves Melissa Etheridge music. He's the guy who was hand-picked by President Obama to give the invocation at the inauguration. UPDATE: Warren has made a video condemning the proposed law and denying any involvement in it. The pressure must be working.
