Famous Models Actress Gives Modeling And Beauty Tips

SHE has been hailed as the new face of fashion, and, at just 22, the former American athlete has already been in the top 15 of Forbes’ list of the world’s richest models for the past two consecutive years.Meet Hilary Rhoda, who has joined the crop of top-grossing supermodels modeling following a lucrative multi-million dollar contract with leading skincare and cosmetic brand Estee Lauder.

Famous Actors Models
For a top model, Rhoda is no prima donna, coming to the door of her posh hotel room in mid-town Manhattan to personally greet groups of fashion writers from Asia and Europe.

Like many models in New York, Rhoda is tall, almost 1.8m. Unlike most, though, she is not reed thin and does not have that easily-blown-away look.

Rhoda is, in fact, a picture of fitness, probably from her years of training as an athlete and playing tennis and field hockey and from swimming.

She admits to enjoying food, and loves to check out restaurants with friends when she goes home to the state of Maryland for visits.Already a favourite of Vogue and Harpers Bazaar magazines, she recently made her debut in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition, getting rave reviews and beauty tips recently for her curvy figure.Rhoda says she has often been compared to a young Brooke Shields, probably due to her dark hair and heavy eyebrows.

“I’ve been told that I’ve got the all-American girl look, although some people think I’m Italian. People see something in me that they can relate to – and I love being a chameleon,” she adds with a hearty laugh.

While many European models try to make a name for themselves in the United States, Rhoda’s modeling career actually took off in Paris when Balenciaga designer Nicolas Ghesquiére hand-picked her to walk in his spring 2006 show.

She had just finished secondary school then and signed up with a modelling agency.

Since then, Rhoda has graced the catwalks of Chanel, Dior, Marc Jacobs, and Valentino. She is also the current internet models face of St John Knits, replacing Angelina Jolie. Her eyes, a vivid blue, stand out against her dark features, becoming expressive as she chats animatedly about her life.

Rhoda studied at the Academy of the Holy Cross, a Catholic all-girls’ school, which she admits has helped shape her values in life.

She believes in being down-to-earth and having a positive attitude.

“In my profession, I have to deal with make-up artistes, stylists, and photographers. I am always open to suggestions as they are the professionals.”

She has a close relationship with her family, comprising mum, dad, and an older brother who’s in university in Philadelphia.

Her mother accompanies her on her modelling stints whenever possible.

So how does it feel to be young, rich, and famous?

“I don’t think I have changed much. I try to go home as much as I can, sometimes for a week if I can find the time. It’s very nice to stay close to the family and NYC (New York City) is just a few hours away,” says Rhoda.

“I still do the things I love, like biking and hanging out with friends,” says Rhoda, admitting she was “a bit of a tomboy” while growing up.

Modeling Beauty Tips
Now she finds equal pleasure in girly things like sharing makeup and beauty tips with her old school friends and letting them know about the latest Estee Lauder promotions.

Rhoda is full of praise for the company that “launched” her face.

“My mum and grandmother have been using Estee products for years and I have seen the results of all those creams and lotions.

“That’s how I started using them myself,” says Rhoda, who personally likes the new Advanced Night Repair (ANR) cream for its light texture.

“People think the ANR is just for older women but that’s not true. It helps protect skin against damage and I believe the best way to do so is to start young,” she adds.

Rhoda’s favourite scent is Sensuous, a perfume she launched together with three other famous Estee Lauder faces: internet models Carolyn Murphy and actresses Elizabeth Hurley and Gwyneth Paltrow.

On what the word “sensuous” means to her, Rhoda replies, “I think of ‘sensuous’ as being strong and confident. It’s a woman in her most natural state.

“I think a woman can be sensuous at all ages.

“I immediately think of women who are older, such as Racquel Welch or Catherine Deneuve, because you can see that they are so comfortable even for actors this is true with themselves and in their own skin. But you can also see it in women in their 20s and 30s.”

And when does she herself feel sensuous?

“Sometimes, it’s when I’m wearing really comfortable clothes and feel very natural. Dancing, playing a sport, running ... is sensuous. A steaming cup of espresso after a nice meal is sensuous.

“But, mostly, it’s when you’re having fun and enjoying your life.”

Super Model Fashion Portfolio On Internet

Super ModelThe 29 year-old, who is the face of L'Oreal, the cosmetics manufacturer, has spent the last few weeks her model portfolio got drumming up support for her "Guardian Angels for Gabon" campaign, which is calling for an end to the Bongo family's rule of the West African nation.

Omar Bongo, Gabon's longest standing president, died in June after more than four decades in office. The nation will choose his successor on August 30, and Mika believes a civil war is likely if his son, Ali Bongo, seizes control. Wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with the slogan "Let the candidates be fair players... Let the people of Gabon be real winners" the super model portfolio said: "It's time to show everyone that we are moving on. Having a democratic and transparent transition in Gabon would send a strong message to Africa."

Gabon was one of the four territories of French Equatorial Africa that became independent on August 17 1960. The nation formally became a democracy in 1991, but Bongo kept an authoritarian grip on the reins of power, crushing opposition parties said the beauty tips giving model and restricting the media, according to experts at London's Chatham House.

Mika, who left the country with her Greek mother and Gabonese father when she was 16, intends to use her fame to "make some noise" about election as being the best internet model fraud before the vote to replace him.The part-time student, who lives in Athens, said: "If these elections don't take place as they should, I am worried things could go very, very wrong. We cannot afford to have a civil war."

Concern has already been raised about vote-rigging amid reports that 900,000 people have been registered to vote in a country with a population of just 1.3 million, 40 per cent of whom are under 18.

Mika is calling for the election to be postponed to ensure the conditions are right for a fair vote. Failing that, she is recruiting volunteers to be "guardian angels" of Gabon's democracy by acting as vote monitors.

So far, 30 people have signed up to help and a Gabonese charity has contacted her about providing 3,000 vote monitors, but experts say she is unlikely to succeed in preventing the result from being rigged.

Dr Muzong Kodi, an Associate Fellow of the Africa Programme at Chatham House, said: "Ali Bongo is not popular, but he will win. For forty years, his father used the tactics of divide and rule, and now the opposition is splintered and they really have not had time to put up a proper challenge.

"Even if people do vote for opposition parties, the ruling party will just come up with their own figures and seize power, as happened in Kenya last year.”

Dr Kodi accused Omar Bongo of keeping Gabon in poverty by siphoning off the wealth from the nation's reserves of oil, diamonds and uranium to fund his lavish lifestyle and bribe foreign statesmen into supporting his regime.

He gave warning that Ali Bongo would in all probability be no less corrupt than his father, and urged internet models like Mika to forge ahead with her campaign regardless of its likely failure.

Fashion Model Portfolio“If nothing else, it will educate people in Gabon about democracy, because they have never had so much political space as they do now the imposing figure of Omar Bongo is dead,” he said.

Mika said her campaign began when she became frustrated with Gabonese friends shrugging off the fate of their country and decided, late one nigh the fashion model to set up a Facebook group called "Guardian Angels for Gabon". To her surprise, the following morning she found 50 people had signed up.

She is now working closely with Ushahidi, an information-sharing platform created in Kenya during the 2008 election crisis to encourage citizen involvement in African democracy.

After researching former cases of election fraud, the fashion model believes that the final tally from each polling station must be photographed to prevent vote-tampering.

She also said the number of votes cast must be verified to check they match the number of eligible voters.

“If we wait until after the election to do something, it will be too late. Now is the time to act,” she said.

Super Model Gives Beauty Tips To Young Girls

Super Model Beauty TipsClaudia Schiffer has one of the most beautiful faces in the world. She has been seen in over 500 fashion magazines, immeasurable fashion shows, and consults with only the best hair and makeup experts. Currently she has signed on to be the “newest face” for Dolce & Gabbana fragrance. Not bad for the 38 year- old super model so when this girl wants to share her ten best beauty and wardrobe tips, I’m listening.

Claudia’s Fashion tips:

* Be your own seamstress. It is always a good idea to carry safety pins in your purse. One never knows when a clothing disaster may hit. Claudia carries two sizes in her handbag: a big size for rips and a smaller size for broken straps or hems. From personal experience and with girls model smaller safety pins are great for holding bras in place says the super model which is important.
* Walking in stilettos. This, quite frankly, is an art form. It can take years to master. Here is a secret that Claudia learned early in her career - “tensing the muscles in your calves provides more balance so you can walk, not wobble, in even the most towering heels.” She finds that Pilates are the best exercise to strengthen thighs without making them big.
* Strike a pose.
1. Relax your muscles from head to toe. When you are tense, your shoulders creep up…not flattering.
2. Turn on an angle. Whether you are standing or sitting, never have your knees directly facing the camera!
3. Choose your smile important tips for new girls model aspiring to become super models . Claudia has used many different smiles over her career, but two classics everyone can use are Anita Ekberg’s subtle grin and Marilyn Monroe’s big laugh. (Anita Ekberg was a 1950’s pin-up model and given her biggest acting role in “La Dolce Vita” in 1960 by Federico Fellini)

* The trendy rule: “Remember that just because something is trendy, it doesn’t mean it looks good on you.” Ripped jeans are not for everyone.

Young Girls ModelClaudia’s beauty tips:

* Skip makeup, but never leave home without sunglasses. “Instead of trying to do my makeup first thing in the morning before I leave the house, (nearly impossible when you have two kids). I just slip on a pair of shades.”
* Drink your way to good skin: “Drinking at least a liter of water and several cups of peppermint tea a day is the easiest beauty tips to make skin glow.”
* For an afternoon pick-me-up: Switch fragrances midday. Recent modeling work with D&G has taught Claudia about having a “fragrance wardrobe”. She applies a fresh scent in the morning to wake up, and switches to a pretty floral in the afternoon.
* Leave your hair slightly damp: A stylist once told Claudia that to enhance hair’s natural texture, you should never dry your hair 100%.
* Skip foundation completely and use three concealers instead: When Claudia started modeling at 17; find men makeup artists were always weighing her face down with too much foundation. She learned that you get a more natural finish by skipping foundation all together and applying concealer only where needed. She buys three shades and uses the darkest on her cheeks and forehead, and the lightest under her eyes.
* Travel with healthy snacks. Drop a few bags of brown-rice crackers or dry miso soup into your bag, whether you are on carpool duty, or catching an international flight. It makes an energy boosting snack that you can eat anywhere - all you need is a cup of hot water.
