Spotted out last night (September 17), the newly blonde beauty smiled for paparazzi as Katharine McPhee pics were taken as she attended both the Anna Taylor and Tommy Hilfiger runway shows.
“I have a record coming out in January called Unbroken,” she tells, “and I’ve been working on it for the last year and it’s been a big artistic development. It sort of felt like I was shedding skin, so I was literally shedding layers of hair.”
These days, being an "American Idol" alumn doesn't mean squat. Your reality show ass better get on the ball as soon as Simon Cowell nails your coffin shut or you may be flipping patties at the same Burger Hut we saw in your audition footage.
If you do hit the ground running, big things can happen. Look at Daughtry, Jennifer Hudson and Kellie -- ugh -- Pickler. They are all huge acts in their respective genres. Skipping along behind said stars, like a flower child who ate too many special brownies, is the life-loving Katharine McPhee.
The season five runner-up, whose self-titled debut album barely scratched the audio surface, had a few mediocre hits ("Love Story" and "Over It") in 2007. But nothing really cemented her into a specific niche as well as the 40-year-old cat lady market Clay Aiken exploited. That is all about to change.
With her sophomore album "Unbroken" quickly approaching release on Oct. 6 (Update: release date is now January 5, 2010), with beautiful Katharine McPhee pics all over media she has managed to carve out a nice spot in an area that no "Idol" has really honed in on. What's that, Ryan? Well get ready for ... the "Quintessential Wedding Song."
With tunes written by greats like Rachel Yamagata, Ingrid Michaelson, Paula Cole and Kara -- double ugh -- DioGuardi, her CD is pretty much vacuum sealed with a promise ring. At least it should be. Songs like her first single "Had it All" or another gem "Say Goodbye" play out like perfect, normal radio hits (fan-filler, if you will). But the track that will explode her onto every wedding with beautiful beauty care experts isle this fall is the adorably whimsical, breezy yet brilliant, heart-wrenching "Lifetime."
I can literally hear tons of would-be wives begging their fiances to play this damn track as they smooch for the first time in matrimony. And the funny part of this realization is that I hate frikin' wedding songs with lot of beauty care they make me want to kidnap puppies. However, "Lifetime" has a kind of soulful innocence that most of those horrid Celine Dion songs chosen to play at past knot-tiers faked.
Take a listen below and then start planning out how your gonna break the news to your beau.
