Paris Hilton's on/off boyfriend Doug Reinhardt was left fearing for his life after a man pulled out a gun as the star Paris Hilton tried to stop a bar brawl.

Reinhardt was partying at hot-spot Hush in Laguna Beach, Calif., on Tuesday when one of his pals began fighting with a man outside the venue, reports TMZ.

"The Hills" star rushed to break up the feud and was terrified after a fellow reveler pulled out a firearm.

Police were called to the scene but the fracas had ended by the time officers arrived.

It's not the first time the 23-year-old has found himself at the centre of conflict during a night out. Reinhardt was allegedly beaten up by a bodyguard while trying to defend heiress Paris Hilton at a Miami nightclub in March.

PARIS HILTON described the party scene with many of Paris Hilton photos in clubs as "brutal" following a night on the tiles with boyfriend DOUG REINHARDT.

The socialite, pictured here with The Hills star at Teddy's night club on Saturday, had earlier wrote on Twitter how much she was looking forward to her evening out.

She Tweeted: "Getting ready to go to dinner and then out. Haven't been out to LA night club in so long. Should be fun."

However, her night appeared to have turned sour and once again turned to the social networking site to note her feelings.
