Designing Woman Dixie Carter died today. The cause of death has not been disclosed. The Tennessee native is survived by her husband Hal Holbrook to whom she had been married since 1984. Though she is widely known for her television work, her theater credits are extensive and include Thoroughly Modern Millie and Pal Joey on Broadway as well as numerous off-Broadway and regional theater credits. She is pictured above in a 2005 production of Lady Windermere's Fan. Her numerous awards include Emmy and Drama Desk nominations. The Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center opened in 2005 in Huntingdon, Tennessee.
